Syowia Kyambi, born in 1979, is a multi-media artist living and working in Nairobi. Much of her work dissects and brings to question perception and memory, examining how the contemporary human experience is influenced by constructed history, past and present violence, colonialism, family and sexuality. Her current focus is exploring personal relationships and cultural identities, linking them to historical and social issues and imbuing them with concepts of loss and longing
